Orphan Fansubs Status Update

Here's the latest status report.

Projects underway:

Falcom Gakuen S2 - at QC.

Code:Breaker OVAs 2-3 - at QC.

Bite Me! Chameleon - at editing and typesetting.

Stop!! Hibari-kun - translated, 1-7 at edit.

Projects under consideration:

Alakazam the Great - English subtitles with Japanese audio, instead of English dub. Needs translation check.

Maple Story completion - needs transcription of hardsubs (OCR has failed).

Cosprayers DVD - needs encoding from DVD ISOs.

Hashire Melos - encoded. Needs transcription of hardsubs (OCR has failed).

Yume Tsukai - DVD softsub from existing hardsubs (C1, Ayu-AonE, and/or Arienai-Ureshii). DVDs on order from Japan.

Sanada 10 - abandoned by AonE-dp after episode 9. Needs translator. DVDs on order from Japan.

I have raws for lots of other interesting shows like Tenkousei, Kyoukujitsu no Kantai, Ear of the Yellow Dragon, Dokushin Apartment Dokudami, Nora 1 and 2, and so on, but no resources to pursue them. The most critical need, at the moment, is for a translator/translation checker - just like every other back catalog group.

  1. I ran into a bit of a snag with Cosprayers -- episodes beyond 01 have wmapro audio, which doesn't register in Aegisub for retiming purposes. I've been trying to find ways to extract/remux the .wmvs so that I can re-encode the audio, but GraphEdit isn't working as well as it used to, and FFMPG has proven too opaque to function for a relatively CLI-impaired user like me so far. But I'll keep trying.

Nice to hear you came across some new LD encodes for that Kakyuusei OVA.

  2. Hello. I don't know any other way of contacting you. I am currently finishing up a LD rip version Maze. You guys were the first to ever subtitle the long lost 26th fanservice episode, which I would like to include in the batch that I will release, but only if I have your permission to do so. So is it alright to include your release in my batch?

    1. Of course! Looking forward to the complete batch of Maze, with all its "service" intact.

  3. Er.. what happened to "Lady Georgie"? That was on your last list, so I dropped it (especially considering that I accidentally stepped on your toes with "Tokimeki Tonight" thanks to not knowing the ins-and-outs of the current fansubbing scene yet. I'm sorry!). Does this mean it's available again? Inquiring mind would love to know. :)

    1. No translator, so feel free. I have the DVD ISOs, if you would like to make original encodes rather than using the available Internet raws.

    2. Oh my gosh.. wow! I would be honored if you'd be willing to share. I was using the VHS rips. I know I'm probably missing another way to contact you (if it were a snake, it probably would've bitten me!), but if you'd be willing to e-mail me at kofukusub at gmail dot com so we can talk more, I'd really appreciate it!

    1. Don't hold our breath. It's not translated, nor has any translator expressed an interest in it. Sorry. :(

  6. What a huge list of rare classics! I'd like to ask you, since Orphan subbed the Borgman 2: New Century 2058 OVAs in the past, if they are interested in subbing some time the original TV series of Borgman. I think there are bd raws of QTS, not the better ones, but is something. It's only a question, nor a demand, just in case xD Many thanx for your works!

    1. Everything depends on the interest and whims of translators. 35 episodes is a lot to ask. That's why most Orphan projects are either short or resubs or both.

  7. Thank you for working on Stop!! Hibari-kun! translation

It will probably take so long to translate all the 35 episodes
